This is a repeating event

26jul09:0011:00Public Dolphin Watch

Event Details

On the last Sunday of each month we will be at Portland Bill looking for cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoise) and collecting data for the Sea Watch Foundation.
Dolphins and harbour porpoise are frequently seen from Portland Bill, sometimes they come in close enough to shore to see with the naked eye but to be in with a greater chance of seeing something, bring your binoculars.
There will always be an experienced observer and data collector there, so don’t worry about bringing data collection forms, pens etc just bring yourself. The more eyes on the sea the better.

The watches will be early morning- starting at 9.00am and will take place for 2 or 3 hours (or maybe longer if there are dolphins around!). We know from experience that the best sightings at this location are usually in the morning, especially for seeing harbour porpoise.

The watches are weather dependent- if the sea state is rough the watch probably won’t take place. Please keep an eye on Dorset Dolphin Watch facebook page for updates.

Please do join us- even in the cold weather! Some of the best sightings are in the winter months.
