Fight to save Islanders Youth and Community Centre

The fight is on to save the Islanders Youth and Community Centre on Portland.

The club, on East Weare Road, have started a crowdfunding initiative to pay for urgent repairs to their building.

If they’re not sorted soon, then the club might have to close.

Work needs to be done on broken gutters, windows, and plumbing, with a twelve thousand pound bill alone for upgrading the toilet facilities.

Two of the members, Cassie Beacock and Emma Johns, are doing a fundraising walk from Land’s End to the Islanders Centre during the Easter holidays, which is a walk of around 200 miles.
