CAD Technician

Frontline Recruitment Weymouth are seeking a CAD technician to join a small and friendly team on Portland.

To work with the Design Manager and assist with the production of both internally produced vessel or engineering designs and external third party contracted designs. .

Duties and Responsibilities:

Confidently use a variety of software packages to convey instructions about materials, technical specifications, assembly procedures, measurements, and site requirements
Validate specifications and/or drawing dimensions for a contract / work where a design is required, liaising with managers and customers to identify that the received design input is adequate for sufficient and satisfactory design output
Check received customer and subcontractor design and calculation compliance with required quality and regulatory standards with 3rd parties e.g., Naval Architects, Class Surveyors, MCA etc.
Applying knowledge of materials and engineering principles to check feasibility of manufacture and construction for any project
Assist in the tender and bid process, projecting planning by helping to estimate and procure materials, processing times and advise best practises to manufacture along with required operators
Design jig /fixtures to aid the efficient manufacture of required project fabrications, defining potential problems and find solutions for them
Deconstruct received or inhouse produced design and fabrication drawings to their individual parts to produce part nests for external and internal cutting and processing
Communicate with managers to provide information required by the production team i.e., received design drawings, working fabrication and part drawing/processing files, welding details, BOM’s, cutting lists
Document, internal and external drawing receipt, working drawings, cutting lists, material nest production, material procurement, certification documentation and design changes as the project progresses
Coordinate filing, storage, and retrieval of drawings/documentation and be responsible for maintaining accurate records
Produce “as built” drawings at end of contract

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £27,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
