Domiciliary Care Worker

Home Care Worker:

All home care workers are responsible to the Care Co-Ordinator or Registered Manager of the Agency.

General Information:

To provide a holistic, person-centered domiciliary care service that meets the needs of service users whilst promoting independence and freedom of choice.

Responsibilities

To assist service users with personal care tasks: dressing, undressing, washing, bathing, toileting, going to bed and getting up
To assist service users with incontinence aids, care aids and any personal equipment (full training will be given with regard to specific equipment)
To assist with the preparation of meals and hot drinks To assist with eating and drinking
To prompt medication and accurately record
To assist with domestic tasks: cleaning, washing, ironing, shopping, making beds, washing up, empty/clean commodes
To provide companionship when required and encouragement to take an interest in hobbies and pastimes
To provide escort services when required
To promote independence and freedom of choice at all times
To respect service users’ rights to privacy and dignity
To write reports and ensure all relevant information is updated in service users Care Plans
To attend and participate in all necessary training programmes
To attend supervisions, annual appraisals and other meetings when requested
To complete relevant company paperwork accurately and on time
To read and comply with all company policies and procedures
To report to the Registered Manager any significant changes in the health and well being of service users
To report to the Registered Manager any refusal to take prescribed medication
To report to the Registered Manager any medication error in a timely manner
To assist in the care of any service user who is dying
Any other duties as directed by the Registered Manager commensurate with the post of Home Care Worker Position: Home Care Worker Title: Home Care Worker Reports to: Director/ Registered Manager/ Office Coordinator Hours: Part time /Full Time worker: Limits to Responsibilities Home Care Workers are not allowed to: –
Undertake any trained nurse duties
Take responsibility or care for any children on the service users’ premises
Climb ladders or similar equipment

Own car required, mileage to be paid at 45p per mile
