After a festive Christmas break, today marked our first full day back at Dorset Abilities Group, and what a brilliant way to start the new year! With almost 50 people returning across our two Weymouth-based sites, it was a day full of energy, creativity and connection.

At STEPS, the day was packed with varied and engaging activities designed to get everyone moving, thinking and creating:

The perfect antidote to the post-Christmas lull! Everyone got active, shook off the holiday blues, and worked together to strengthen friendships and teamwork skills
π Performing Arts
Creativity took centre stage as we dived back into the imaginative world of DAGberry, our make-believe village. Together, we explored the dramas and plot twists that unfolded over Christmas and New Year β with plenty of suspense along the way!

With the new year bringing a fresh focus on healthy eating, our budding chefs prepared a delicious vegetable stir fry. Alongside cooking, participants learned valuable life skills including food hygiene, budgeting, and practical skills they can use at home
π Granby Industrial Estate
Over at our Granby site, two of our most popular projects were back in action:
π Tuck by Truck
Our much-loved social enterprise offered real work experience, helping people build confidence and practical skills such as customer service, money handling, basic Maths, English and ICT, recycling, and vehicle checks

Daily arts and crafts sessions provided a relaxed and supportive space for creativity, allowing those we support to express themselves in a positive and welcoming environment
