Free Home-Start Haven Groups Return to Weymouth This New Year

Families with young children across Weymouth are being warmly welcomed back this January as Home-Start Wessex restarts its free Haven support groups, offering friendly, local help for parents and carers of children under five.

As shown in the images from recent sessions, the Haven groups provide relaxed, welcoming spaces where babies and toddlers can enjoy play, crafts, and sensory activities, while parents take time to connect, chat, and share experiences. Fully trained staff and volunteers are on hand, bringing both professional knowledge and lived experience of family life.

The Weymouth Haven group runs every Monday from 10.00am to 11.30am at the Weymouth Family Hub, Weymouth Outdoor Education Centre (DT4 0HS). The photos highlight parents and volunteers engaging with babies on play mats, at activity tables, and in calm, supportive surroundings designed to help families feel at ease.

Meanwhile, the Littlemoor Haven, pictured welcoming families into a bright, friendly setting, takes place on Wednesdays from 10.00am to 11.30am during term time at Littlemoor Top Club, Louviers Road, Weymouth (DT3 6AY). This newer group offers the same warm atmosphere, combining fun activities for children with wellbeing support and conversation for parents.

Home-Start Wessex says the groups are about more than play, they are safe spaces where parents can build confidence, reduce isolation, and feel supported during the early years of family life. Both groups are free to attend, with drop-ins and referrals welcome.
