Funding Boost Available for Local Children and Young People

Schools, PTAs and community organisations across the area are being encouraged to apply for new funding aimed at supporting children and young people.

The Stronger Starts Community Grants programme is now open, offering grants of up to £1,500 to help local groups make a positive difference in their communities.

The funding is designed to support a wide range of projects, including:

• Schools looking to start or expand a breakfast club

• Scout and Guide groups needing new tents or equipment

• Youth sports clubs seeking essential kit, such as goalposts or match-day refreshments

• Other initiatives that improve opportunities, wellbeing and inclusion for children and young people

The next funding round closes on 31 January 2026, and eligible organisations are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.

The grants are open to schools, PTAs, local charities and child or youth-focused not-for-profit organisations, with a strong emphasis on projects that benefit local communities.

Anyone interested in applying, or who would like free advice and support with their application, can contact Claire Louise Hunt at Groundwork by emailing Clairelouise.hunt@groundwork.org.uk.

With funding available to support both everyday essentials and longer-term community projects, the Stronger Starts Community Grants offer a valuable opportunity to help local children and young people thrive.
