New Year Clear-Out Urged to Support Dorset Blind Association in Weymouth
Residents in Weymouth are being encouraged to start the New Year with a clear-out that can make a lasting difference to people living with sight loss across Dorset.
With Twelfth Night traditionally marking the moment to pack away decorations and have a fresh start, Dorset Blind Association (DBA) is appealing to the local community to donate unwanted, good-quality items to its Weymouth charity shop. Clothing, shoes, accessories, books and household items are all welcome, provided they are in a condition suitable for resale.
Donations help keep DBA’s charity shops well stocked and raise vital funds to support services for people affected by sight loss, including practical help, emotional support and opportunities to stay independent and connected.
To make donating as easy as possible, Dorset Blind Association offers a free collection service in Weymouth, as well as in Portland, Bridport and Sherborne. Collections can be arranged by calling 07570 425900 or emailing weymouthshop@dorsetblind.org.uk.
Alternatively, donors can drop items directly into the Weymouth DBA charity shop during opening hours.
A spokesperson for Dorset Blind Association said the New Year is one of the most important times for donations, as many people are decluttering and looking to give items a second life. “Every donation, no matter how small, helps us continue supporting people with sight loss in our local community,” they said.
By choosing to donate rather than discard, Weymouth residents can turn a simple New Year tidy-up into meaningful support for a local charity making a real difference.
