Police investigate two rapes in Weymouth
Dorset Police are investigating two separate rapes of women in Weymouth, they have confirmed.
It happened outside in the early hours of the morning on a footpath linking the Marsh playing fields behind Weymouth Swimming Pool to Dennis Road, to the rear of Abbotsbury Road.
It has now emerged that they are also investigating a report of a separate rape in an alleyway off Westhill Road, Wyke Regis.
Police said there was no information at this stage to indicate the two cases are linked.
Dorset Police said they had received a referral from another force about the Westhill Road attack.
A Dorset Police spokesperson said:
“At 11.53am on Friday 11 September 2020 Dorset Police received a referral from another force. This was in relation to a report of the rape of a woman in the early hours of Thursday 10 September 2020 in an alleyway off Westhill Road in Weymouth.
“The alleyway was cordoned off to allow officers to carry out enquiries in the area. The cordon was lifted at around 4.20pm.
“Local officers can be approached with any community concerns.
“Further details are not known at this time as the investigation is in its early stages.”
