Residents Invited to Have Their Say on Flood and Coastal Risk Management Plans
Residents, businesses and community groups in Portland and Wyke Regis are being encouraged to share their views on the future of flood and coastal risk management, as part of an ongoing public consultation led by the Dorset Coast Forum.
A shortlist of proposed options for managing flood and coastal erosion risk along the Portland to Wyke Regis coastline has now been developed, and public feedback is being sought to help shape the next stage of the project.
As part of the consultation, Dorset Coast Forum has released a new online presentation explaining the proposed approaches and the challenges facing the coastline. Members of the public are invited to watch the presentation and take part in the survey to share their views.
The consultation is open until 18 January 2026.
The project aims to balance the long-term protection of local communities, businesses, infrastructure and the natural environment, while responding to the increasing impacts of climate change, rising sea levels and coastal erosion.
Residents can take part by completing the online survey at:

The latest presentation can also be viewed on YouTube, providing background information and outlining the shortlisted options under consideration.
Community groups, local authorities and partner organisations across Weymouth and Portland are supporting the consultation and encouraging as many people as possible to get involved.
Anyone with an interest in the future of the Portland and Wyke Regis coastline is urged to take part before the survey closes, ensuring local voices play a key role in shaping future flood and coastal risk management plans.
