RNLI advice as crowds expected at Dorset Beaches

Dorset residents and other visitors to the coast this weekend have been asked to make sure they visit lifeguarded beaches.

RNLI lifeguards Weymouth and West Dorset have been issuing safety advice over social media in the build-up to this weekend, with crowds expected to flock to Dorset once again with the sunshine returning.

An RNLI spokesman said:

“Thankfully the weather looks like it is going to be improving over the next few days and we are predicting busy beaches. It is really important if you are planning a trip to the coast to always visit a lifeguarded beach.

“From a safe social distance, please ask the lifeguards for beach safety advice and always swim and bodyboard between the red and yellow flags. Know your limits, don’t swim alone and know what to do if you are caught in a rip current – keep hold of your board or floatation device and swim parallel to the shore.”
