The Leggomen host live gigs on Facebook in aid of Weldmar

Popular Weymouth band The Leggomen will host three live gigs on Facebook this week, in aid of Weldmar Hospicecare.

Band members Matt Taylor, Billy Hutchinson, and Ben Deplanque will each host a show over three consecutive evenings, broadcast live on their their Facebook page.  They, and drummer Josh Ellis, have worked on the concept, which they hope will both boost funds and awareness for Weldmar, as well as providing entertainment for music fans at home.

Matt says, “All of us (the band) have a great to deal to thank Weldmar for. They have touched our lives and helped us and loved ones through some seemingly impossible situations on more than one occasion. Therefore, it only seems right that we give something back when we can.

Obviously, everyone has been affected by the global pandemic, but we were particularly touched by Weldmar’s story. So we decided to try and raise some money for their cause, whilst simultaneously giving our Facebook followers a much-needed tonic from the boredom and stress of the national lockdown.”

The shows start at 8pm each evening between Tuesday 31st March and Thursday 2nd April.

To make a donation whilst watching the shows, just press the ‘Donate’ button you’ll see on their live Facebook post each evening.

Community Fundraiser Emily Fisher says, “This is a brilliant idea, and our thanks go to The Leggomen for their support of Weldmar at this time.  They’re always great when they play live, so I’m sure these shows will be really entertaining!  It just shows how inventive and versatile you can be when it comes to fundraising for Weldmar whilst our events are cancelled or postponed, and our shops are closed.”
