Theatre Classes Return to Weymouth with Mental Health–Focused Creative Programme

Theatre classes are returning to Weymouth in 2026 as part of a supportive new creative health initiative designed to help people explore performance while supporting their mental wellbeing.

The course, titled “Developing Skills for Performance,” is the second programme to be delivered in partnership with Access Wellbeing Hubs Weymouth and forms part of the Create:Connect series — a programme of artist-led courses focused on creativity, connection and recovery.

Open to individuals seeking creative ways to support their mental health recovery journey, the course will be led by professional artists and will use theatre and performance techniques to build confidence, self-expression and connection in a safe, welcoming environment.

Organisers say the programme is not about prior experience, but about participation, exploration and personal growth through creativity. The February 2026 course is open to anyone who feels theatre could play a positive role in their wellbeing.

Those interested are encouraged to register early, as places are limited. A sign-up form is available online to reserve a place for the February start date.

The return of theatre-based wellbeing courses reflects a growing recognition of the role the arts can play in mental health recovery, offering participants a chance to connect, create and develop new skills in a supportive community setting.
