Wessex Folk Festival Plans To Return in 2021
Planning is underway for the Wessex Folk Festival to return to Weymouth quayside from June 4 to 6 next year.
This year’s event was an early casualty of the Covid-19 pandemic but hopes are high that musicians, dancers and trade stalls will return to the harbourside next Summer to bring the festival atmosphere back to Weymouth.
The line-up of musicians is currently being drawn up and the first performers should be announced soon. Morris dance sides are also keen to sign up.
The new chair of the festival’s organising committee, Eileen Bramley, said:
“Whether you’re an old friend or a new visitor, we are so very pleased to let you know that plans are well in hand for Wessex Folk Festival 2021. Over the past 20 years, the Festival has grown hugely from its beginnings in local pubs. The committee and the location have changed over the years, but the ethos is the same – to bring wonderful live folk music to everyone, completely free of charge.”
“Wessex Folk Festival is particularly keen to support young musicians and this year there will be a spotlight on young talent.”
The Wessex Folk Festival takes place around Weymouth Harbour from June 4 to 6. Full details can be found on the festival website at www.wessexfolkfestival.com
