Weymouth & Portland Residents: Have Your Christmas Tree Collected and Support Weldmar Hospicecare

Residents in Weymouth and Portland are being invited to start the New Year with a simple and meaningful act of support for local hospice care as Weldmar Hospicecare’s Treecycle returns this January. For a suggested donation of £10, households in the area can have their real Christmas tree collected from their doorstep — and know that every penny will help fund compassionate, specialist end-of-life care across Dorset.

The annual initiative takes place in partnership with Trinity Street Christmas Trees, with support from Knighton Countryside Management Ltd, who will chip and recycle the trees in an eco-friendly way at no cost to the charity.

Collections for Weymouth and Portland will be on:
📅 Saturday 10 January 2026 — specifically covering residents in the DT3, DT4 and DT5 postcode areas.

This service is available exclusively to residents in the designated postcode areas, and those wishing to participate should book their collection in advance by 12pm on Wednesday 7 January 2026. To book — and find full details of the service, requirements and how donations help — visit: https://www.weldmarhospicecare.org/trees/.

What Residents Need to Know

To ensure a smooth collection and help volunteers find you:
• Only real Christmas trees up to 8ft tall can be collected.
• All decorations must be removed before collection.
• Trees should be placed outside your house by 8am on the day of collection, avoiding obstruction of pavements or roads.
• Collections may occur any time between 8am and 7pm.
• If you live in a hard-to-find location, you can provide extra details on the booking form — including a What3Words location — to help volunteers locate you easily.

Because Treecycle is a volunteer-led initiative, there’s a small possibility a tree might be missed on the scheduled day. Residents are advised to contact Weldmar Hospicecare as soon as possible if this happens, and no later than 5pm on Tuesday 13 January 2026.

Volunteer and Support Opportunities

Volunteers are crucial to making Treecycle a success. Weldmar Hospicecare is inviting local people to help with collections, either by driving a vehicle on a collection route or assisting with loading trees. Volunteers should be fit and able to move trees up to 8ft tall.

Collecting your tree through Treecycle is a great way to clear away the festive decorations without the hassle, support local hospice care, and help the environment through responsible recycling.
