GCSE and A-level pupils can sit exams if unhappy with their coursework grade

School pupils are being told they will have access to a full set of exams they can sit if they are dissatisfied with their coursework marks.

Ofqual, the government body that oversees educational qualifications, has confirmed exams will take place in Autumn.

It has been suggested that A-level exams will take place in October, and GCSE exams in November.

In a statement, Ofqual said:

“Exam boards must make exams available in all GCSE, AS and A level subjects in the additional autumn series and we are therefore varying our normal rules that allow exams only to be held in May and June.”

Examination boards have been told to assess the student based on performance in the examination and to discount any non-exam assessment, with the exception of art and design qualifications.
