Community Charity Bingo Night Planned to Help Bring Mum Home

A community charity bingo night is set to take place on 28 February at the Islanders Community Club on Portland, organised by Jady Phelps and her family following the sudden loss of their mum while she was in Africa.

The family has been left devastated by her unexpected passing and is now facing an extremely difficult situation. Before they are able to bring her home to the UK and lay her to rest, outstanding medical and hospital bills must be paid, without which her body cannot be released.

In a heartfelt statement, the family said:
“It is with broken hearts that we share the sudden passing of our beloved mum. On top of our grief, we are now facing an impossible situation. This is the last thing any family should have to worry about while mourning the loss of a loved one. We are desperate to bring our mum home, where she belongs, so we can say goodbye properly and give her the dignity and peace she deserves.”

All proceeds from the bingo night will go directly to the family’s GoFundMe campaign, which has been set up to help cover medical fees, repatriation costs, and funeral director expenses.

To help make the evening a success, the family is appealing for raffle and bingo prizes. They are not looking for anything specific and would be grateful for any donations, including gift vouchers, products, hampers, services or small prizes.

“Our mum was a loving and caring person who meant the world to us,” the family added. “Any donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. If you’re unable to donate, even sharing our story would mean so much.”
