Repair Café Weymouth Back This Saturday to Fix, Sharpen and Save
Weymouth — Repair Café Weymouth is returning this Saturday, 10 January 2026, inviting residents to bring along broken household items for repair, sharpening and expert advice.
The free community event will run from 10:00am to 12:30pm at Southill Community Centre, where a team of skilled volunteers will be on hand to help repair a wide variety of items. These include electrical and electronic goods, IT equipment, clocks, jewellery, mechanical items, leather repairs and sewing projects. Visitors are also encouraged to bring secateurs and shears for sharpening, as well as problematic sewing machines that need attention.
Repair Cafés aim to reduce waste by fixing items that might otherwise be thrown away, while also helping people save money and learn more about how everyday objects work. Repairs are offered free of charge, with donations welcomed to support future events.
Organisers say the café is as much about community as it is about repair, offering a friendly space where people can meet, chat and share skills while tackling the growing problem of throwaway culture.
No booking is required, but repairs are carried out on a first-come, first-served basis, and attendees are advised to arrive early.
