Storm Ingrid Causes Disruptions Across Dorset: Traffic Lights Disabled and Flood Warnings Issued

Storm Ingrid has brought challenging weather conditions to Dorset, prompting authorities to temporarily disable traffic lights on Portland Beach Road for safety reasons. This includes the lights on the A354 at Ferrybridge, which have been switched off and are expected to remain inoperable until Monday morning, January 26.

Motorists have faced significant delays due to the adverse weather, with the traffic lights’ deactivation marking the second occurrence this week. As high winds and heavy rain continue, work on the Ferrybridge repair project has been paused for the weekend. A spokesperson for Dorset Council confirmed, “Due to the predicted high winds, works will pause for safety reasons.”

Flood warnings have also been issued across the region, with Portland Beach Road particularly at risk. Residents are urged to stay cautious and avoid travel unless necessary. Updates will be provided as the storm progresses, and the community is encouraged to stay informed and safe during this severe weather event.
