Plans for BT Hub outside Weymouth railway station
Plans have been submitted for a third BT Street Hub in Weymouth.
The latest proposal would see the unit placed outside Weymouth Railway Station.
The scheme follows earlier proposals for similar installations on St Mary Street and along the Esplanade.
Planning documents submitted to Dorset Council by Mitie on behalf of BT state that the hubs would provide free public Wi-Fi capable of speeds up to 1Gbps. Users would also be able to make free UK phone calls via connected devices, alongside access to USB charging points and an emergency assistance button.
The application adds that advertising shown on the high-definition screens helps fund the installation and operation of the units
The latest proposal is listed under reference P/FUL/2025/06225 on the Dorset Council planning website.
